Hello 4-H CANSKI Racers and Fitness Skiers,
Just a quick note about 4 items for you:
1. We're going to run a 6 week training series (once a week) in July and the first two weeks of August for if there is enough interest. We'll focus on ski specific training, strength, and some quickness (and FUN). Rollerskiing and running with poles will make up much of the ski specific work and should be social as well. We will work on technique. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED CONTACT ME AND LET ME KNOW WHAT MORNING OR AFTERNOON WOULD BE GOOD FOR YOU. I'll try and work something out that meets the most schedules.
2. Rollerskis are available for check out until July. Please call me at home or work (682-8385 [h] or 682-7017 [w]) or respond to this e-mail if you are interested. We'll work out a hand off of the equipment. I know that I have talked with several of you about your interest in roller skis. I'll hand them out first come - first served. Wear a helmet and highly visible clothes when you rollerski!
3. We'll have a work party for gear inventory, repair, and waxing on July 7th (5-8pm at AHS - wax outdoors). Pizza and frisbee to follow work. Please plan on being a part of this and put it on your calendar now.
4. 4-H CANSKI skiers, please put Saturday, Sept. 4th on your calendar to help out with the 4-H Dairy Bar at the Ashland County Fair. This is the major 4-H fund raiser of the year and the county organization supports 4-H CANSKI in many ways. We'll look for 4-5 volunteers to do 2-3 hour shifts between 11am and 7pm.
Just a quick note about one other exciting item: CXC contacted 4-H CANSKI about housing a sit ski for skiers with spinal or lower limb disabilities because of our reputation as a community based and community oriented xc ski club. They noted our community service reputation as well. That has a lot to do with the great service work that YOU do. Nice job and congratulations!
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Get outside and move!
-Doug
